Ability to change workspace owner and to navigate through time reports

We recently added two features to Apollo, both of which might well come handy:

  • The ability to change the workspace owner
  • Ability to navigate through time reports

Let's have a look.

Account owners

This is a request we receive periodically: employees often sign up for Apollo, and discover later that since they are the workspace's creators, they are also marked as "owners". In Apollo, owners have extra powers that other users don't have, especially in terms of billing and account management: they can set "groups", enable API access, change billing information, and so on.

Editing time entries within a task

When you develop a program like Apollo, sometimes it's tricky to decide where users should be able to "just see" data, and when they should be able to edit it.

A common feature request was the ability to see all time logged against a specific task. That's why we added a dynamically loaded section of the site, where we show exactly that:

Shortly after that, another request came: the ability to edit those entries without having to jump a few hoops to finally "find it".

Time reports in the contacts area

We have just released a new feature in Apollo: people can now enjoy, for contacts, the same powerful time reporting abilities they get for projects.

If you are familiar with the Projects > Time section in Apollo, you find yourself right at home since the interface is equivalent:

This, along with the ability to set time as billable/billed, will allow you to log time against a contact, and then check your time reports against those contacts and bill them accordingly.

Let us know how

Apollo mobile gets writeboards, contact name connected to project

If you are one of the many users who have access to Apollo Mobile Beta, you will be glad to know that there is some news you were probably looking forward to. (Speaking of Apollo's mobile site, if you are interested in gaining access drop us an email with your workspace name!)

What's new in Apollo: several small improvements

Although development efforts have been focusing on upgrading Apollo's foundation libraries, we still worked towards improving our users' experience. So, if you used Apollo in the last few weeks, you probably noticed some small improvements that made it into it.

Here is a quick list:

Configurable project name in email subjects

With the reply-by-mail feature, we discovered that Gmail would ignore anything in brackets when deciding where to file your email. This meant that two tasks with the same name, but belonging to two different projects, ended up in the same conversation.

Billable time entries in Apollo

If you are an Apollo user, you probably already know that we really listen. One of the requests we receive often is to strengthen the time tracking abilities within Apollo. So, the latest feature that made it into Apollo is the "status" field for time entries. This will expand the possible use of timers, in terms of billing — which will be improved further over time.

Improved time reports across all projects

Reporting is one of the most important aspects in project management. This is why we are working towards making Apollo's reporting abilities stronger. We have just improved reporting across all projects.

Before this change, if you went to the Projects Dashboard and clicked on "Time", you had a breakdown of how much each person had spent on each project, with a pie chart next to it. You could also download this information as CSV, and filter by person.
