New features: gravatar support and merge contacts

Two new features have recently made it into Apollo.

The first one is gravatar support. Gravatars are global avatars that can be created by anybody on www.gravatar.com. Using gravatars is very simple: you create one, and associate it with your email address. Then, within Apollo, you can go to Settings > Account and then tick the box "Use Gravatar" in the Picture section:

We have also made it possible for you to merge two contacts. This is helpful if you have two entries for the same person. An important feature here is that notes for those contacts will also be merged.

These features are not as important as many others, but they are useful nevertheless.

Enjoy!

Great new features! Any ETA on when I'll be able to see the gravatars of all the folks in my Contacts list? That will really make browsing that part of the app a lot better.

There is an open ticket for this.
It's a little trickier, because a contact can have multiple email addresses!

Perhaps it would also be nice to get LinkedIn avatars at contacts? I think there are alot more people using LinkedIn than gravatar. Not sure though if there is an api for this :)

Another idea I've seen done is to automatically pull in a contact's Twitter photo if you've entered their Twitter username in their profile.

So many choices!
