Improved search on contacts (now by field)

When you deal with a lot of information, searching is indispensable. We have recently improved searching within projects, and decided to improve the search in the CRM side of Apollo.

This led to a considerable rewrite of the search abilities of Apollo's CRM, which now allows you to select which fields you will search into:

Decide how to view and sort contact names

When it comes to regional settings, Apollo needs to deal with several issues: timezone, date format (DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY), language, and so on. There is another detail, in terms of localization, that escaped in the first version of Apollo: the ability to set, in the CRM side of things, how to display people's names: "name, last name" or "last name, name". Apollo, by default, would display them as "name, last name" and would order contacts by last name.

Apollo gets better filtering options for contacts activity

We developed the "activity" under Contacts to keep an eye of everything that happened in the CRM side of the story in Apollo.

Users find this screen very important, as it allows them to follow what happens to their contacts.

Time reports in the contacts area

We have just released a new feature in Apollo: people can now enjoy, for contacts, the same powerful time reporting abilities they get for projects.

If you are familiar with the Projects > Time section in Apollo, you find yourself right at home since the interface is equivalent:

This, along with the ability to set time as billable/billed, will allow you to log time against a contact, and then check your time reports against those contacts and bill them accordingly.

Let us know how

Bulk editing of contacts in Apollo

Hello there,

I haven't written here in a while. We get a lot of consistent email feedback after posting here, and I have to say we find the communication very gratifying.

One of the features I personally talked about privately in emails a lot was the possibility to run bulk actions on contacts. Before now, if you wanted to change the visibility of 10 contacts, you had no choice but open each one of them. This was time consuming, and hardly a good way to do things.

This is why we introduced bulk actions on contacts:

More improvements: collapsed notify section, expanding comment form, new export permission

Hi there,

Software development happens in small steps. Before our deserved summer break (which is just about to end!), we released several small improvements in Apollo. We covered a some of them last week. Here is the rest:

The "notify" section is now collapsed by default

We gave this some thought, and decided that the main means of "subscribing" to a task should be by dropping a comment. This is what happens naturally in several blogs.

Export of a user-specified range of contacts in CSV format

Hello everybody,

As you probably know, we are now working on features that are meant to enhance Apollo's openness. In terms of contacts, the first step in this direction was Apollo's email integration. This allowed you to add notes to contacts by simply sending an email to a dropbox address, or replying to a task comment by hitting "reply" in your email program.

New features: gravatar support and merge contacts

Two new features have recently made it into Apollo.

The first one is gravatar support. Gravatars are global avatars that can be created by anybody on www.gravatar.com. Using gravatars is very simple: you create one, and associate it with your email address. Then, within Apollo, you can go to Settings > Account and then tick the box "Use Gravatar" in the Picture section:

We have also made it possible for you to merge two contacts.
